About Us

About Us

We are a community of faith in the greater Urbana community.  We worship in Urbana Middle school at 10:00 am every Sunday

Here is a little bit about us:

Our Mission:Real People, experiencing Real Life, encountering a Real Life Changing Faith in Jesus Christ
FaithPoint is a different kind of church community.  We intentionally meet at a middle school because it puts us at the heart of the community and walking into a middle school doesn’t feel as intimidating as a traditional high steeple church.  We know that everyone has their faults, and we all bring baggage with us.  We also know that life is a wonderful, hectic, chaotic and Holy mess.  Realizing these two things pushes us to tell God’s story in ways that get to the heart at what our community is going through.  Think God wouldn’t want you at church because of your past?  Then you’ll be in good company at FaithPoint.  We also know Jesus offers us a life that is way better than we could have ever imagined.
Our Vision:To build Christian community reaching wide to invite non-religious and nominally religious to become deeply committed disciples.
We have come to understand that through reaching wide into our community through personal relationships we are able to increase the Kingdom of God.  We also look to make deep disciples that wholeheartedly follow Jesus.  This is not programs and events but a faith the runs deep in our hearts and informs our decisions and direction.
Our Plan:FaithPoint is an intentional missional community that focuses on four areas of ministry that are the foundation to accomplishing our mission and vision. They are glorify, grow, give and go.
The first, glorify, aims to glorify God through worship. Worship may most visibly be seen on Sunday mornings, but we also realize that as we serve and study we are giving glory to God as well. Keeping our focus on glorifying God orients us to become deeper disciples.

Our second, grow, seeks to grow disciples through study and fellowship. Building our devotion to God and our relationships with one another we are able to encourage each other to live into the plan God has for us as disciples of Jesus.

The third  area of discipleship is Give.  Our give ministries are what happens within the life of the church.  This would include the ministry teams that give their time to set up for worship each week, the worship teams, the finance and administrative teams.  We see growth in this area as twofold.  First we give of our time to the faith community in order to grow deeply committed followers of Jesus.  Secondly we invest financially to the work of the church so that we may give a portion of what we have been blessed with.

Finally, go involves Faithpoint sharing the Good News while meeting the real needs of the community.  We understand that there are times where people need to be offered bread to fill their plate before they can digest with the Bread of Life (Jesus) has to offer in their lives.

Our Beliefs: At FaithPoint we are Christians who are excited to be part of the United Methodist Church
What is a United Methodist?

United Methodists hold to the historic doctrines of the Christian faith. We are evangelical, but moderates rather than fundamentalists. We value the intellect and modern science, while at the same time looking to the Bible as the authoritative guide for faith and practice. Methodists have a passionate faith with strong convictions, but we also recognize that the world is not always black and white. We are willing to ask questions, to wrestle with difficult issues, and to do so with grace and compassion.

Methodists have been known for our emphasis on a personal faith, lived out in concrete ways in the world. We have historically valued well-informed and passionate preaching, worship that was lively, and small groups where people could grow in faith.

Methodists have open hearts, and open minds–and welcome anyone interested in learning more about the Christian faith.
