Reflecting on Philippians 4:1-13
Philippians 4 is by far one of my favorite chapters. But going deeper into it, these specific verses have always stuck out to me. Here’s how I put it into perspective:
Life, along with many other good things, brings hardships. There will be plenty of times when you’re lied to, cheated, mocked, any many more. The meaning of these verses speak loudly to make a statement. That through all these things, “…keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus”.
In addition to keeping Christ in your heart through the deprivations of life, “Rejoice in the Lord always.” To me, no matter what you’re doing in your life, it is always important to keep God in your mind and heart.
There are many ways to do this. Whether that means going to church, participating in church camp, or talking to your friends about how you keep God close to your heart. “I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound”
With God, every day you have the connection with Him is another day that you learn. He is our teacher, our mentor and our rock. Learning how to treat others is a very important lesson that God teaches us. Learning how to be humble, kind and loving is crucial to our humanity.
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” With Christ, all things are possible. Working through everyday struggles, life struggles –big or small — Christ works through all of us to get through them. Christ is there for the good along with the bad.
This is very important for every follower of God to remember. That is why this verse sticks out to me and I think it’s very important to remember.
