Lent Devotion for March 26

Reflecting on Mark 8:11-21
We must always remember God provides and is in control. This Bible reading contains physical and spiritual references. References are made to the numbers seven and twelve.
The number seven, to me represents God’s creation, it’s perfection and Christ’s death and resurrection, both completed acts. The number twelve — the twelve tribes of Israel, and the twelve disciples — represents ties to the old and new testaments.
The loaves of bread are tangible but spiritually represent the bread of life being Christ Jesus. Yeast is also tangible and can represent vanity and conceit.  We must be careful that our pride does not consume us. Everything we have and are able to do, are gifts from God. We can do nothing on our own and God is with us always. God provided for our salvation over 2,000 years ago and continues to provide for our needs everyday. Therefore, we do not need to doubt or question, for we walk by faith not by sight.
Have vanity and/or conceit kept you from having a closer relationship with Christ Jesus?
Has doubt kept you from having a closer relationship with Christ Jesus?
