Monday: Malachi 2:1-3
Yikes! God opens this chapter meaning business. If you don’t listen to me or glorify my name you will be cursed! It is like God is saying, “Make no mistake where your blessing is coming from, and just in case you think YOU might have something to do with it I will correct that thinking by removing myself from the equation.”
Where do you forget to give God the glory that is due? Take an extended time today just to say thanks to God for the blessings you have been given.
Tuesday: Malachi 2:4
This is one of those passages that we are able to pass on by is we are trying to get through our devotion reading and move on to the next thing. However it is really important. This one verse show us how great God is at keeping promises. When no one seems to care and the practices of the priests is lackluster at best God still keeps the words and covenant that was made generations before.
How does knowing God keeps God’s promises shape your understanding of your LORD? Also, how does this reassurance allow you to live your legacy?
Wednesday: Malachi 2:5-9
Levi was a great priest who loved God and kept the law and orders with the respect that were needed. This is all in sharp contrast to the current situation that we find in Malachi. Would you say that you would be more of a Levi or a priest of Malachi’s day? Of the character traits outlined for Levi, circle the one you feel you reflect most and underline the part that you need to be intentional about working on.
Thursday: 1 Peter 2:4-10
This passage is one of the primary passages that makes up the term “priesthood of all believers.” This is the idea that through Christ we are all called to take on the role of priest and all have a responsibility to minister to those whom God has placed under our care. This also means that we cannot pass the responsibility on to someone else to care for those we have been called to shepherd.
How are you living into your role as priest?
How are you passing on our responsibility?
Who are those under your spiritual care and guidance?
Friday: Malachi 2:17
God’s love is unfailing and when we call upon God there is an answer. If we are able to focus enough on God to hear it is another story. But I am betting that there are times when God would like to shout at us, “STOP asking me the same question and just listen!!!!” What do you constantly keep asking God? How might you stop and listen for an answer?
Saturday: Malachi 2
Reread this chapter looking for the passages that say “says the LORD of hosts” or “heavenly forces”
This reference is an identifying mark of the book of Malachi. Why do you think the prophet used this term 20+ times throughout the 4 chapters of this book? Perhaps
