Reflecting on Romans 8:1-11
As I reflect on this passage, I am reminded of my life before I came to truly accept Christ as my Lord and Savior. Like so many people, I believed that I was on the right path, I attended church weekly, tithed a large amount every Sunday believing that I stood out as a pillar of my community and church.
However, I was deceiving everyone around me including myself. God knew my inner heart and of my deception and through his Spirit, He convicted me. As this scripture states, “If anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not have Christ…The mind of a sinful man is death but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace.”
I was living in the shadow of life – dead and not aware of it – not experiencing the vast possibilities found in Christ Jesus. Through the Spirit of Christ Jesus, I was given the opportunity to again have life. I found I was no longer tied to the natural desires of wealth and earthly possessions. That yoke was removed when I decided to open my heart and allow the Spirit to enter. Indeed, a new life and peace was given to me that will always be with me just as my Savior will always be with me.
Are you searching for meaning and peace in your life?
If so, open your heart to the one who raised Christ from the dead – the one that will also give life to your mortal body through his Spirit.
