Reflecting on Deuteronomy 7:6-11
The Lord chose you. The Lord chose me too, but the Lord chose YOU!
Let that sink in for a minute. The creator of the universe chose you, and knows your name and your favorite kind of candy and your type of music.
That’s amazing.
But, as our scripture reminds us, it isn’t because we are something special. It is because God is something special.
Throughout scripture, God’s refrain is for us to remember our story and whose we are. This is because when we remember whose we are and where we came from, we can go back to that place, that wellspring and draw life even in the dry times.
In this season of Lent, we make the journey to the cross. At times, we are encouraged to give something up or take on something that will bring our focus back to God, the one who chose us. It Is this God-given worth that pushes God’s people to continue while in the promise land and in times of exile and wilderness.
How do you remind yourself that you have value and worth?
How might you affirm the God given value and worth in your neighbor today?
