#MyFaithPoint

Do you spell “Faithpoint” with or without an “e?”

This was the question that was of much debate while meeting with the design team a few weeks ago.

This is a more critical question than one would think.  You see FaithPoint sans “e, ” like we write our name at church, is a direction on heading.  We are going or pointing the direction to deeper faith.  This is perfect for a church who has a vision to be about making deeper disciples rather than a bigger physical structure.

When we add and “e” on to the end of FaithPointe then we become grounded if you will. There is a location or point of faith that one may be able to stand on.

To put it in Bible terms, the mountain top where the Transfiguration happened (Jesus transformed, stood beside Moses and Elijah) could be a FaithPointe.  However, a FaithPoint could be when Jesus tells the disciples to let the dead bury the dead while they go and make disciples.  I bet that they remember where they were when he said that, but the location was not as important as the FaithPoint of deepening their understanding of what it takes to be a disciple.

All of this being said we are challenging our community and anyone else who wants to play to find their mission field.  This might be a location, area, group of people, time of day…. and take a picture of that mission field and share it on social media with the #MyFaithPoint or email them to Media@faithpointum.org

Your mission field may be to pray for the people that drive or walk past your bus stop in the morning, it may be your family, or it could be your neighborhood, or sports team, workmates……. you name it, and be creative.

As we get responses in we will be using these #MyFaithPoint images/videos/poems…. to cover our bulletins, and other sources of media while we are in our ACTS teaching series.  We are all about making connections and pointing others to a deeper faith in Jesus.  A critical part of that is for us to identify our FaithPoint (which also may be a FaithPointe).
