Micro-small groups during our Acts teaching series
Matthew 18:20 (CEB)
20 For where two or three are gathered in my name, I’m there with them.”
The most powerful part of the church is the way the Spirit moves throughout the people when they seek God’s will. We are confident that studying the book of Acts together will do some really powerful things for our community.
From April 19-June 14 we are going to be walking through the early days of the church through our Acts teaching series. We will look at the beginning of the church, the way that it grew in the first days and how it dealt with new membership. FaithPoint is going through a time of powerful growth similar to the early church.
Because this series falls in a really busy time of the year with the end of school we are going to challenge our community to be part of what we are naming micro-small groups.
What are micro-small groups?
They are small groups 2-6 people who will get together weekly to study together. The groups will go through the book of Acts with the church during weekend worship.
FaithPoint will provide weekly discussion guides that will cover the same scripture that was the focus in worship but they also stand alone.
These micro-small group studies will be in place of the weekly GPS (grow, pray and study) guide that we typically put out.
Who can be in a micro group?
Anyone!
This is a great chance to try out a small group for the first time or reinvest in small group time for a short period. Invite a friend, neighbor, parents you sit with at your kids sporting events, work friends during lunch breaks or those who have not been to church for a while. Invite 2-5 of them to join you on this weekly adventure. We are confident that they will not just be a blessing to FaithPoint but also any other churches whose members participate and our larger community as a fresh wind comes thought because of the Spirit working through these groups.
What is the format
Time commitment: 1-2 hours a week (depending on meeting space and intent)
Where: in a group members home, at a coffee shop, bar, restaurant…
Each week members should read the scripture covered in that week’s study (by the end the whole book of Acts will be covered).
Group will open with some prayer, then study scripture, have a time of discussion and application of the topic covered. Finally the group will check in about their spiritual journey from the past week and if there is anything the group needs to know about the week to come.
