Lent Devotion for April 3

Reflecting on Romans 9: 16-33

A potter uses the same clay to make some pottery with a special purpose and some for everyday use. Similarly, God has made each of you — is made of the same flesh and bone. He has a purpose for each of you. If you pursue righteousness by your own effort, then you will not attain your goal. But all who claim righteousness by faith in Jesus Christ are justified by God’s mercy and the work of their hands are to bring glory and honor to God.

Prayer
Almighty God and Father, Creator of all things, You are Truth, Love and Mercy. I stand before you in justification and righteousness because I accept the gift of Your mercy and grace through Your Son Jesus. Thank You for the gifts You have given me to use here on earth to bring honor to You.  Give me the wisdom to discover my gifts and the understanding to use them for Your glory and to fulfill Your purpose for my life. It’s in the name of Jesus I pray, Amen.

Key thought
Justification and a right standing with God cannot be attained by your efforts. The only path to righteousness is through faith in Jesus Christ.
