Lent Devotion for April 6

Reflecting on Psalm 133

Psalm 133:1
1  Look at how good and pleasing it is when families live together as one!

As I walk into the store, I see the folks who are in the line, on the phone, not paying attention to the cashier, or their purchases, or their tasks.  My condemnation of them is acute:  how can they be so self-involved?  And yet, if I am honest, this is the way I walk through life sometimes – distracted, not observant, intentionally not connecting with others.
This is not how God made me to be.  God commanded that I love my holy siblings here on earth, and that I do it with the sweetness that flows from God first, like the oil that sets us apart as God’s chosen children.  God put us together with a Holy purpose and connection.

And, when I can listen and obey the One Who Made Me, loving my siblings, I see “how wonderful, how beautiful when we get along.”  It’s refreshing, renewing, life-giving, like dew.

Today, how can we look beyond our selfishness to see our Big God Family the way God sees us?
