Weekly Reflections for the week of March 31, 2013

Monday:  Jesus’ Resurrection                        Matthew 28:1-20

  • Given that today is the first of April, as we read this scripture I wonder if the women thought that they were the fools as they encountered the resurrection.  Clearly the weight of what was happening began to sink in with they fell at the feet of the resurrected Jesus.  When did the weight of the resurrection begin to have power in your life?
  • How are you sharing this Good News with the people of “all nations” (v.19).

Tuesday: Jesus Appears to Mary                   John 20:1-18

  • As the emotion and passion of Holy Week are still fresh, would you most identify your life as more Good Friday or Easter Sunday?  Why? In what ways do our Fridays cast a shadow and not allow us to see the hope of Sunday?  How can you more fully embrace the resurrection today? (share with us on our Facebook page how you live the resurrection daily: facebook.com/faithpointum)
  • The imagery in John’s gospel is powerful.  Do you think it was just by chance that Jesus (the New Adam as Paul writes) is thought to be a gardener?  The garden is where it all started, and so in a garden is where God is starting something new. Had you ever thought about that?  What new thing is God doing in you this Easter?

Wednesday: On The Road to Emmaus         Luke 24:13-35

  • When were you closest to “throwing in the towel” spiritually? Are you back from that place now? What brought you back? How might FaithPoint help you? Email pastor Chris about help (Chris@@faithpointum.org)
  • When had Jesus come along side of you and journeyed with you? How were you feeling?  How long did it take for you to realize he was there with you?

Thursday: Jesus Appears to Thomas   John 20:24-31

  • There was so much riding on the resurrection that Thomas NEEDED to know the truth.  Think about a time when you needed proof.  Why did you need it?
  • How does Jesus deal with Thomas’ doubt (v.27)? How are you dealing with your doubts of faith?
  • Bonus: a great way of dealing with doubt is starting with a firm foundation.  The first 2 people to email me (Chris@faithpointum.org) will get a copy of the book Primal by Pastor Mark Batterson. It is a great book and we have a few extra copies at the house.  🙂

Friday: Jesus and the Miraculous Catch        John 21:1-14

  • When have you felt so blessed that your “nets were overflowing?”
  • Why did Peter jump into the water (v.7)? In what ways are you making your way to God as quickly as you can?

Saturday: Jesus Taken up to Heaven            Acts 1:1-11

  • How much of the christian life do you think the disciples “got” at this point in the (after)life of Jesus?
  • Reread verse 8 a few times slowly. As you read begin to replace the names of Jerusalem and Samaria with specific places in your life that God has placed on your heart to share the Good news.  Finally, write these on a card and bring the card into worship this weekend.
